Today, representatives of M & T Bank, flew all the way from Buffalo, New York to Atlanta to evict Michelene Meusa, Reneka Wheeler, and their family from the place they started to call home. After liberating the vacant house in the Pittsburgh Community of Southwest Atlanta last week, the family started to settle in, while attempts were made to reach out to the bank and work out a deal that would keep them there. Instead of responding to Occupy Our Homes Atlanta’s calls and emails, the bank showed up at the door today alongside the Atlanta Police Department to issue a criminal trespass warning to everyone inside. Both Reneka and Michelene refused to leave, and were arrested along with two other OOHA members who had climbed onto the roof of the house. Here are some pictures of the eviction that took place today. More on this story coming later, but in the meantime please donate to our bail fund so that we can get the arrestees out of jail as soon as possible.
