This Tuesday we'll be holding a community meeting at Toni's reclaimed home. We'll talk about next steps to win back Toni's house, updates with Mildred Obi's home, and how we can organize in Lithonia to fight back against eviction and foreclosure.

Let's show The Warehouse Lofts manager Hugh Trotti that the community will not sit back while he moves to displace a single mom, Jaye Crawford, and her daughter.

5:30 - 7:00 pm: Canvassing Mr. Trotti’s Neighborhood. Let’s make sure Hugh Trotti’s neighbors know how he runs The Warehouse Lofts. We’ll canvass Hugh Trotti’s Decatur neighborhood, collect petition signatures and offer yard signs that read “Hugh Trotti: Do The Right Thing!”

7:00 pm: OOHA Press Conference. Join current and former Warehouse Lofts tenants as they share their stories on how management works at this complex. Non-responsiveness to repair issues, untimely and inflated utility bills, lease termination and non-renewals, incessant noise issues, management disclosing personal tenant information with other tenants, and other shocking tenant horror stories. We’ll also hear from respected Atlanta landlords who are appalled by the way The Warehouse Lofts conducts business in our city.

Occupy Our Homes Atlanta member and Atlanta activist Jaye Crawford has been told by her landlord that her lease ending June 30 will not be renewed. She has lived in her zoned-commercial unit for 14 years, which serves as both a living and work space for her personal training studio. When Jaye took a neighbor to court over incessant noise violations (and WON) Hugh Trotti refused to renew her lease. Mr. Trotti’s stated reason: “No one reason in particular.” Mr. Trotti has yet to address the law-breaking tenants, and has refused numerous requests for a sit-down meeting aimed at conflict resolution. We want Hugh Trotti to renew Jaye’s lease, immediately.

Should she be forced to move, she will lose her business, and her straight A student daughter may be forced to change schools. Jaye and her daughter deserve to stay in the place they call home.
